Target Field

Went the open house today. Am I ever jacked! The stadium is awesome. Sat in our seats and watched last years game 163 on the HUGE scoreboard and listened to the Spring Training game. Got to go through a bunch of the suites and other premium club suites and restaurants that I'll probably never get to get into again.

Most of the food vendors were open so we could sample all of the new menue items. It was a great day and I am more excited than ever for the new season.

The only problem? Getting in and out of there by driving is gonna suck! Guess we're planning on taking light rail to most of the games.

394 is the only major artery that runs close to the field. All the parking is on the opposite side of the field from 394, most 4-5 blocks away. To get in and out you'll need to use the regular Mpls streets, sure to be backed up for a long time with the baseball traffic. There is one huge parking ramp right across the street, but if you've ever tried to get out of a ramp with 10,000 other vehicles at the same time you know how much fun that can be. I'm sure with time we'll figure out a "secret" way, but untill then I'll be taking the light rail.

Bassboy, I was there also and it was very, very impressive. I can't imagine what that stadium is missing. Great food and drink selections, enough bathrooms so not any lines, great sight lines for watching the game, etc. I sure like the open concourses so you can walk around and still see the game.

I went to the Gophers game this past Saturday and the LRT had people packed in like sardines. It also seemed like it took a lot longer than normal to get to the MOA stop from downtown. IMO, I think Metro Transit should look at not only running additional trains during games but also have express trains that only make stops at certain stations (and also adjust the traffic lights to allow for faster service). Keep your customers happy and they'll keep coming back!

I am going to both games this weekend and I think I am going to take the Northstar Rail and just park at the Fridley station. Tickets are only a couple bucks. Probably the same as the LRT but I think a lot less people will use that option so I am hoping to be able to actually sit down to and from the game. We shall see!

Using the Northstar train will be the best option....I love the idea of parking in Fridley and taking it in to Target Field. normal rates are $3.25 each way. weekend rates a bit less....make sure that the Northstar is operating on those particular game days though (check the metro transit HSOforum), they will only be operational for 53 of the 81 regular season games.

My sister works for a casino that works with the Twins. She has taken a few tours through the stadium. She said I could share a couple of pics she took.

    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
