Hey guys I have been stalking around here for a while and couldnt find any info on how you guys use bullies for bait, I have been fishing cats for a few years but havent gone after the big guys only small eaters, and using smelt, chicken liver, small suckers, and shrimp, so I'm new to this other cut bait stuff.

Please enlighten me so I can learn.

Cut bait? We use those bullheads live.

Find some 7 inches or smaller (read the other thread in here about 10 inch bullheads) and rig them up with a 7/0 - 10/0 Kahle or circle hooks. Hook them through the tail under the adipose fin. I use circles and they work well for me, people will give it the old Ford vs Chevy argument though. Find what works for you and stick to it. Give them a 12-18 inch leader on a swivel with a sinker big enough to keep them down. Cast it into a good spot and wait.
