help! 1975 johnson 9.9

hello today i started my boat up with the water muffs on it started great however. on the 75 models they dont have the water hole for the water pump. it is just a hole out the back when i ran it if i put my finger and covered the hole it would get wet sometimes i remember it spitting out more is this because it was not in the water. there is a small hole very close to the bottom that shoots out water. i think this is for the pump but not the hole above water line is my motor shot? ran great last year and lower unit rebuilt the guy said it had a new pump whats your opinions.

Yes, when it is in the water it will have more come out the exhaust relief port. The rest of the water will come out through the prop. If it is pumping water, you will be able to hold your had on top of the block. The small hole you see water coming out of is a drain for the housing where water will collect.
