Evenrude model number

I know this has been posted here before, but I can't find it. What's the way to find the year of an Evenrude by the model number? I know there's a word you match the number up to but I can't remember what it is.

Edit- It's an older motor. I'm guessing (purely a guess) pre-1975.

i think the tag is below the motor , at least it was on all the older ones i farted around with.

Evinrude outboards 1969-1980. The model year is in the Model number as the first digit after the horsepower. Example: Evinrude 1975 75hp=E75543B. In this instance the red “5” is the model year.

1980 to 2004 motors

the 5th and 6th letters will match to this for the year of manufacture

Eric if its that old than you need a reference chart. INTRODUCES wont work. Post the model number and I can look it up for you, buddy.
