SFC
I have been catching alot of sunfish with deformed spines. I have fished this lake in my younger years, never seen but a few like this. What causes this?

SFC
Have no pics. Spines would have a kink in them mostly by the tail, they would curve up just past the dorsal fin and back down & straighten out to the tail. Caught one about 6" that had the same thing just behind its head I thought I had a huge sunnie,it had a big hump just behind its head. waterbound
Maybe it's genetic? Are most of the deformed fish roughly the same size? Sometimes larger fish like pike or walleyes might be deformed because they were injured when they were young, but it's not exactly common. I would love to see a picture of one of these fish. JimmyJames
I caught a sunnie in a metro lake with two heads, strangest thing I've ever seen.
