Catfishing the mississippi

I know I probably should be in the mississippi river north forum but I figured I would ask here first. I got the itch to get out after some channels. I fish monticello a lot. Just wondering if anyone has been out in that area recently? And if they are biting at this time of the year?

Do you fish the Monti area at all during the winter/this time of year at all with any luck? There was a couple guys the other day fishing from shore that had just caught one.

Yes I fished the mississippi last year in feb. and caught fish. Actually, I dont know if its just me but the fish we caught seemed bigger in the winter. I just was looking to see if anyone has been out?

I didn't fish but I stopped down at montissippi park to check the river level. it was not high yet but there was ice chunks floating down in good numbers. I may try next week. for now I just plan to try and catch a few cats through the ice on saturday up at the cool cats get together. If you have never ice fished for cats this is the event to check out. it is held up on horseshoe lake by richmond starting at 8AM.
