5th Annual City Auto Glass Walleye Classic-Lake Vermilion

Recommended Posts

I have received a few calls about rooms at Fortune Bay for our event. We currently have a block of 25 rooms until 4/15/10. If the block fills they will open a few more rooms for us, so please make your reservations soon if you plan on staying here. Last year we had a couple teams that needed to scramble for accomodations because Fortune Bay was full.

Sounds great, Jamie! I noticed that this has now become an AIM sanctioned event. How many teams would receive the invite to the championship at Winnie? Looks like just another reason for others to join on in the fun!

Seriously, folks, if you have never fished this tourney, you SHOULD! It's VERY well run, and the banquet on Friday night at Fortune Bay is a no-miss event, lots of great prizes and good food/drink.

gregg- entry is $400 for the tourney, but I don't know what it is for the AIM Championship. And, yes, AIM is Catch, Photo, Release. You may follow me around, but I have long trolling rods, and I might have to flick ya if you get too close!! grin

Seriously, though, you should enter. Spend some time the week before the tourney, and I think you'd find enough fish to feel confident in your chances.

Sounds good...actually bought a new 30' travel trailer and pulled it home Friday. Putting it up at Becker's in their RV park for the season, so I'll be up there every weekend this summer. I'm sure I'll see you on the lake, but will for sure be fishing the couples tourney in August at Bowen's. Keep in touch.

Slovene-

Yes, we are now an AIM santioned event. This is a HUGE opportunity for the folks fishing our event. I am waiting for clarification as to how many entries we will receive, but I will pass that information along as it becomes available.

I see your boat is the 1st out in the second flight. I look forward to seeing you again at Vermilion, and good luck!

Thanks, Jamie! Hopefully we can have as good of a day as we've had in the past 3 tourneys and also hope for a little luck with a big one. Either way, I'm sure we'll have fun. Make sure to keep the bar stocked with the black labeled square bottle for me and I'll be a happy camper! wink

Gregg- Yes, it's the furthest one up the Miss. River where it comes in the lake. Heated pool for the kids, too. We'll see how we like it and hopefully something opens up at Bowen's if we don't.

Jamie-just to let you know we called on Sat. (almost too late!) and it sounded like they only had 4 rooms left that were available. We grudgingly had to settle for a jacuzzi suite. Looks like Sat. A.M. will be a tough one again this year!! wink

41 boats as of Tuesday. We typically have around 30 boats by the end of April, and get most of our entries in May. So we are a little ahead of schedule. The phone has been ringing off the hook which is a good thing. I am heading up to Fortune Bay Monday to finalize all our facilities for the event. Only 4 weeks to go smile

Hey Walleye Magnet, I didn't even know you knew how to fish, lol. Sure didn't learn how in Bemidji I don't think. Too bad I'm committed for the Eagles Tournament here that day, maybe one of these years my brother and I will have to sign up and take everyone's money over there!! Awesome job getting set up with AIM also, great format.

Have a great time and hope the tourney goes great, can't have much worse weather than the last couple years so thats something to look forward too, looking awfully nice so far and I hear the crappies are biting like crazy up there too already!

If you happen to see that Anderson guy around hit em for me and tell him he's just a Big Lug!!

Thrax- Good to hear from you. I think the last time I saw you was at the North landing on Lake Bemidji. As you know prior to putting this on I fished the Eagles. We would love to have you come over and 'try' to take the big money one of these years. This event has grown beyond what any of us imagined at the start. You won't regret it if/when you decide to come over and fish smile

I just spoke with Anderson yesterday. I will give him a slap for you.

Are you fishing the Kraus? I will be out there for that one.

Tossing the Kraus around, my partner is a little low on funding, doesn't know if he can swing it yet, lots going on with this tough economy. If we can place ok for the Eagles then we'll likely lock in for the Kraus. Hope your tourney does great, fish should be hot hot by then (I hope).

Anderson always needs a slap, any good man should always give him one at every opportunity.

If not fishing the Kraus I usually swing by for the weigh in, will look you up either way.

If you are planning to fish with us this year, and you haven't sent your entry in yet please do so before Wednesday, May 19th. After that date I would appreciate if you just brought your entry to the registration/rules meeting Friday, May 21st. We will be setting up Friday the 21st and will have no access to our mail.

Things are shaping up nicely!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
