carp master
What are some good aluminum canoes for a cheap price that have a square stern?

MuntzAngling
I think Alumacraft makes them every couple years. You could ask for sure at Hallberg Marine. Anyway, if it's for the purpose of attaching an electric motor, I prefer a motor bracket that can be added on, then the motor is at your side. Flat backs would be best for a small outboard if that was your plan. If you are going electric, I recommend adding 10ft of cable and placing the battery up front to prevent wheelying to badly. I love my Alumacraft 15CL and have custom rigged it to the max!
deadeye
I would look around for them used too. Alumacraft has some nice ones and I think Grumman might as well.
MN Shutterbug
How do you add extra cable to a trolling motor? It would be nice to have the battery in the front for extra weight, when I'm out alone in the canoe.
MuntzAngling
Go to Fleet Farm or marine shop and get 10-20 feet of marine grade wire. It will be doubled with red and black. You will need a soldering iron and shrink tubing and a wire stripper. Cut off the current connectors 6-12" from the clips. Put on ample shrink tubing, strip ends and solder in your extension piece. I like to wind mine up between the mount bracket and tail piece!-Minner
