Hummingbird 345c portable

Norm1980

Question

Looking for thoughts and reviews....

I don't have enough extra $$$$$ to buy both a new sonar for my boat(which i need most) and a vexilar. I enjoy fishing both open water and ice fishing. I came across the Hummingbird 345c portable which looks like i could use both on my boat in summer and for ice fishing. Has anyone used one for ice fishing any advice would be nice. Looking to spend no more then $400

The hummingbird unit you mentioned would be a good portable option, if you wished.

Also keep in mind for $80, or even less, you can rig your existing Vexilar FL unit up to be used on open water.

I recommend you also check the Vexilar web site on information concerning the Vexilar TK Kits to easily convert your on ice unit to be used on open water as well. Economic, and effective on the water sonar. I use mine year around.

I'm wanting advice more about how this portable unit would work for ice fishing? if it would be almost as good as say a vexilar or a hummingbird flasher or would I be wasting my time getting it and trying to use it ice fishing. I fish mainly during the summer months but it would definitely be a bonus to be able to use it during winter when i have a chance to get out ice fishing.
