Looking to pick one up... anyone seen any inventory on the 8" Nils hand auger anywhere recently. Everyone seems to be out for the season... PM me if you've got any tips.

I just got a 8" nils from the Redrock store. I tried it yesterday on 12" of solid black Ice. 26 cranks with no pressure.....amazing. Come to find out they sent me the powerhead bit and not the hand auger bit

He said that there are virtually none left anywhere. The powerhead bit is actually a little harder than the hand auger bit......it was still easiest drilling I have ever done!!!! I keep the bit and maybe purchase a hand bit in a few years and keep the power bit for when I need it.

Nope.. called them yesterday and the status is Backorder date unknown. Also emailed the Nils factory rep JP - and he says no more until Sept. '10. Soemone on IC tipped me off on a few still left at CT-Outfitters.. called this AM and getting an 8" hand auger shipped out today! They even have a few power point heads left, but I opted for the standard head. Only wanted $10 more for the Power point...no too bad, but did have to pay "full retail"...

Your better off with the standard head from what I have been told. I am contacting redrockstore.com to see if they will swap the head....their mistake, shouldn't have to cost me anything. If they have any heads in stock.
