Vex fl8 problems

When I went to use my fl8 this weekend, I could read the bottom-but I couldn't see my jig. I tried turning the gain up with no luck-I tried a larger jig-no help. I even tried a new battery with the same results. Is my transducer shot, or is my vex shot?

could you borrow a buddy's transducer? Maybe even try yours on his?

was it reading the correct bottom depth?

that is very strange.. was anything showing up in the water column between the surface and the bottom? or was it completely blank?

It appeared to be marking something just off the bottom, and when I tried turning the gain up I could see more clutter.

Cabin boy, My buddy has a Marcum (model equivalent to FL-8 so he is told) that is doing the same thing, I'll be curious to find out what the problem is, he can't use my 'ducer as I run a showdown.

As it turns oyt my transducer was bad. I brought it in to Vex last week, they "tuned it up" and replaced the transducer. I got a heck of a deal from them because the transducer was only 3 years old. Sometimes it helps to go right to the manufacturer!
