Boar
Say I've been fan of pike'n with tips for along time now an fish LOW alot. Mainly dead bait during peak periods prior to spawn, I've mixed it up with live decoy suckers at time an it seems to lure pike in an mainly they focus on the dead smelt. Now a few years back while fish a ice contest out of zipple bay, with prisez going to largest fish regardless of species we went for pike, my bud put out tips an i put one tip up an decided to jig with a airplane jig tiped with a 6 inch sucker, never tried it before then but read alot about it. Well I hit a 38 inch pike that couldnt be counted cause of slot limit, wich suc ked cause it had to be leagal in llength. I caught the biggest fish but didnt win the contest. Havent jigged for pike since walleyes took a front seat. Now I'm jumping back in to the Pikesaddle an want to explore the jigging expansion. I do love the idea of putting a flasher like a mediun red eye spoon in line for tip ups, now LOW, land of the giants, I recewntly picked up some storm wild eye swim shad in the 6 inch length, whats your guy's take on these, they almost seem to lack a stinger of shorts, like too much bait with out enough hook, are there stingers for baits like these? would a stinger disrupt preformance. could you name other jigging plastice please, I prefer paddle tail plastics for more water displacement verses curly tails. Any tips would be great thanks, boar
mainbutter
While I wouldn't use them for jigging, I'd say there's plenty of hook there to allow for good hooking.Ever see a pike eat? Check out online videos. They really do inhale their food, especially anything fish-shaped.
SevenTine
I tried a bait rigs reaper tail one day. Didn't get anything but that long eal like tail sure looked good when jigged. Going to have to try it again.
