What can a guy do to get a better TV signal? Yesterday we couldnt watch some of the channels because of poor signal, is there some kind of booster or amp we can buy to get more power out of our antenna? We have the antenna on the roof.

What kind of antenna are you using? Most of the digital channels are in the old UHF range, but some are also in the High VHF range. You can go to a HSOforum called antennaweb(org), enter your zip code, and it will tell you what channels are in your area, and the exact direction and distance. Your antenna might not be pointing in the right direction, or you might need something that is more in the correct frequency bands. They sell HDTV specific antennas now.

You can also buy a preamp for your antenna. It's a device you hookup inline with your antenna that amplifies the signal.

More height on the antenna.

The digital signal is line-of-sight so the higher you can get the better. The TV transmitters are in Shoreview so you'll need to aim your antenna to the north side of the Cities.

FOX9 and KARE11 are on the VHF band the rest are still UHF, which means you'll need a VHF/UHF antenna to get all the channels.

I have a UHF antenna on the top of my 2-story house a good 60 miles from Shoreview and need the amplified booster to get the stations.

O.k. I'll check the direction tonite. It's not that we dont get any stations, it's just some are choppy\partly scrambled sometimes. And it varies, for instance sometimes ch. 4 will come in great then the next week it will be choppy.

Thanks
