H20c

Now that they've been discontinued, is anyone familiar with a handheld product on the market that can be used with Navionics and Lakemaster chips?

Also, I think I can get an aftermarket H20c, wondering what peoples thoughts are on them? I've heard great reports, but I've also heard they are very hit or miss, lots of issues with GPS lock and such. This would make me nervous getting an aftermarket or used one.

Would love some advise from people. Thanks.

I have heard of the problems guys have had with the H20C, but can't say I've had any issues with mine, works like a charm, and works great considering I also use Lowrance gps/sonar units on my boat, the ability to essentially effortlessly transfer data between different units is great for me. Everything I do/mark all summer in the boat is quickly loaded to the H2OC and available for winter use and vice versa. I've actually had more trouble with GPS on my boat units and its worked as a serviceable backup when something goes wrong on the boat. Prices should be getting discounted, I bought mine at an L and M Fleet store in northern MN brand new for $170, that was over 2 years ago, yes it was the color unit, keep looking and you can get them at a very affordable price.

Not sure how many others have, but I did pick up a new HDS5 last year, thought the unit worked great for me and I had no trouble with it, but am having tons of trouble getting the "portable package" for it for ice use, I have scoured the internet and they are on backorder/out of stock everywhere. I am on a list to get one at a few places if they ever come in, and look forward to having the gps/sonar combined in one unit for ice fishing, and can't wait to see how well the unit reads in ice fishing conditions. The sonar was fantastic in summer, can just imagine how well it could work in winter, either in flasher mode or just scroll screen or maybe even split screen with both.

Who wants to know where there is a good deal going on? I just got back from "the worlds foremost outfiters" and they had the H20 on sale for $269.99, but there is an ad in the new catalog that has them for $169.99. I asked them if they would honor it and they did! It is like getting a lakemaster chip for free!

Now who wants to give me some good coordinates of Red Lake?

Red Lake? Coordinates? Somebody probably has some, but its too large and fish move too much. I've thought I had some before only to find out no, so now I drill, fish, catch, and if not catching, move until you do.

I have the black and white version. I also agree with the other comments...a very good unit. Even better with a chip. I've used mine deer hunting with it on an in my coat pocket and it maintains a link to the satalites..

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
