Recommended Posts

I didn't know where to post this but with the motor heads on here I figured this would be a place to start. I have a cheapie generator and I have gas in my oil. What would cause this? And is it a fairly easy fix. I was told from where I bought it they dont make them any more and the new compaany that bought thm are not standing behind the old units. OLD ITS ONLY ABOUT A YEAR OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any help???

pretty common even on the higher end generators. does your gen have a fuel shut off valve? if so ensure that you are turning it off and running the gas out of the carb prior to shutting off. This will help keep the fuel from seeping into the crankcase. I use to have this issue on all my hondas in the fire dept. they would run them, leave the fuel valve on and put them in the truck compartment. then drive around and the gas would eventually seep into the oil. We would have to service the gens about every month to keep the oil clean.

As noted, if you are running the engine, simply turn the fuel shutoff valve to off, let the engine run until it dies and put it away. should be good to go. hope this helps. Jeff
