mn river "ice" cats

rbs

Recommended Posts

I am going to try the river this year (or next lol) and I am wondering about spots to try out. I have always heard of the holes. Is this the only place? Does the head or the tail of the hole collect more fish? The reason I ask is because the lake ice has too much snow for the wheel house now and the river is only a couple blocks away....and I need to get fishing before I lose the edge! Thanks!

I was snomobiling by the river last night and there is alot of open water. I would be careful becuase the water is high. I have had some success in the past. there is only one spot I ice fish because of the river ice varying.

I would Imagine that the backsides of the holes are going to be better. I have fished in 19ft years past.

I have fished a few hole with no luck for cats but have managed to catch a few eyes her and there just not the kittys that I was targeting. I have also fished the break water off of the backwater or still corners but there again no kittys just eyes so for now I will fish for the kittys on the lakes that I know they are in but I will try again on the river.

Most of all be carefull and even think of wearing a life jacket when first venturing out.

Good luck and be safe
