Jiffy Model 30 gear box questions

I've never ran a Jiffy auger so I may have a stupid question. A buddy had his out this morning and the blade would periodically stop while drilling. This didn't seem normal. I'm assuming the clutch was slipping. Can that be adjusted or is this normal?

Same thing with mine. I am going to try a suggestion made on this board to adjust the high speed carb setting to get more RPM to keep the clutch engaged. I want to do the tuning under load so I am waiting until tonight's outing to give it a try.

You make a good point Hooksetter. It didn't seem to be running at full rpm's (kind of rich). I bet there wasn't enough rpms to engage the clutch.

I just got back from the lake. Made a VERY small adjustment to the high speed setting (turned clockwise about an 1/8th of a turn) and MAN did it make a difference. Buzzed through a dozen holes very quickly.
