Gary, I posted this a while ago.

Depending on what sled you have you can adjust the fit of the drive belt by shimming or and adjustment of the secondary pulley. As a belt wears it will ride deeper into the secondary pulley. You can account for that wear with an adjustment.

Or say the previous owner made that adjustment and you didn't know that and decided to put a new belt on. The belt should flush or 1/16th" above the secondary pulley. If you have more belt then that above the pulley then it could mean it had been adjusted to an other belt. Anyway it is something to look for when you do a visual.

I thought I'd update this.

Rip put on a new belt.

The secondary clutch had been previously adjusted to account for belt wear.

With the new belt installed it rode too high on the secondary clutch which caused the primary clutch to grab the belt at idle. That caused the squealing and the tendency to creep forward at idle.

The fix was easy as this Polaris secondary has the adjustment on the outside of the secondary. Scale of 1-5, set back to 1 and he is good to go.
