Trailer Winch

In putting a winch on your fish house trailer, how heavy of a capacity do you lean towards? I've seen 800 lb, 1000 lbs, or 1500 pound and so on.... How heavy is a typical fish house? Mine is a heavy built fish house; size is 8x12. Any suggestions?

What kind of trailer do you use? I just built a 8x12 with 2x4 construction. Whats the best way to hook up the chain for towing? I was thinking of renting a trailer to haul it up to mille laces, then i would leave it there for the rest of it's life.

Mine is already on wheels.... I just need to replace a really scary winch on the trailer.... hope someone can help us both out with ideas or suggestions!!!!!

What ever you do, don't get a cheap one. Go with a auto-brake winch. We put 1,800# on each side. They were pretty reasonable price at $79.99 each.

I second the auto-brake. If it works with your set up I would also recommend straps instead of cables. I'm not sure of the weight capacity of mine, but they are heavy duty!
