Haven't noticed, I buy the cheapest shiat I can find...I don't think there is any reason to get anything fancy in the winter. IMO...

x2, this is especially considering any one of my rods has a great chance to get dropped down a hole and forever be gone smile

x3 It has to great of a chance of being snapped in half or being dropped down the hole to spend much on any combo... That being said I saw FF has a good deal on some combos right now... I might have to go check them out

Yes they have gone up.

I insist on a reel that has a decent, dependable drag but that can be achieved for about $15 new, or throw a rummage sale reel on there. I scored a whole bunch of HT rods last spring for cheap and put some of my old summer reels on them. If they go down the whole, no big deal.
