bogwalker
What makes a good panfish lure good? What do you look for ?
ironman
I have a preference for gills for the stuff to me fairly "realistic" looking. What I mean is that it should imitate some sort of bug. My favorites are the ones that hang horizontally..not sure if they like em better but I do know I get better hook sets. For crappies, the standard glow devils and small spoons. I may experiment with small chubby darters this year, I caught one on a big one last year jigging for pike. I was in shallow clear water and watched this crappie just hammer the darter..it was pretty cool. With either crappies or gills I always start bigger and work smaller to trigger strikes.
