I have the Rapala knife that has all the different hook ups supplied. You can use a wall plug, alligator clips on a Vex battery, or the cigarette lighter in the boat or truck. Plus it has a long and short set of blades; love it for its versatility.

For a cordless I would definitely go with the rapala cordless. I had a couple other off brands and could not clean a limit of walleyes on a charge. The rapala comes with two batteries and I can easily clean a limit of eyes on one battery. Actually I have cleaned a limit of eyes, crappies and a few perch on one battery.

Thanks! Looks like the Rapala with an extra battery sounds like the way to go. He will be in a sleeper house on LOTW for 5 nights in Jan, so I hope the guides may be able to bring one in to shore and charge the extra battery up each night. I really appreciate the help and I am sure he will be happy with this gift!
