Tips on Setting up an Otter Resort?

Last year I picked up a new cover for an otter resort for $175 that comes with the square tubing. I just baught the large sled that the cover fits. Wow is this thing BIG. Does anyone have any tips while I am in the set up stages. Things I should do first? I will not put it all together until I buy and put the hyfax on. Should I lube the tubing with something? Should I bolt the canvas to the tub? Any hints, tips, or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Needice

Them things are HUGE - I can give some tips based on my memory of doing my Otter Lodge a few years ago.

As for the Hyfax, install the front edge (on curved side of sled) first. Then work your way back to the opposite end when fastening. Put them on before attaching the canvas assembly.

As for the canvas - the only thing that is bolted/screwed to the sled is the pole assembly. As long as you use the paper template to drill the holes for the assembly base, it is pretty straight forward. Take your time, look at a fully assembled one if you have to. After the pole assembly is attached do the canvas. The canvas should just snap on to the lip of the sled (very nice feature). It does not screw on like Clams. I recommend doing this in a warm area since the canvas fastener is plastic, so it would be easier to work with out of the cold.

I highly recommend the otter pole holder accessories.

Good luck!
