My Razr crashed the other day, while looking around for a new phone a friend mentioned that you can "flash" the phone to get it working again. i can get the phone into the boot screen but thats it. Is this something that is worth doing?

Flashing means updating the software that your phone runs to the latest version. If it's getting to the boot screen and not any further, then it's possible the phone software is corrupted and if you are able to update the software, it might start working again.

First I would suggest taking it to the phone store, tell them what's going on, and see if they can do anything. They might just try to sell you a new phone (commissions, sales, etc...) or they might attempt a flash update or otherwise know how to fix your problem.

If the store won't do anything, you can attempt to do a flash update yourself. There is a ton of information on the web. Since there are several different kinds of RAZRs, you'll need to make sure you find the information for your specific phone. Basically what you have to do is install a program on your computer, connect the phone to your computer with a USB cable, then use the software to load the new firmware (software) onto the phone.

I'd say give it a try. If it doesn't work you're not really out anything since the phone already wont boot.
