jwmiller33
hello all. i have a 55lb minnkota maxxum transom mount trolling motor. here is a stock picture of my trolling motor, notice the arrow the piece that you tighten and loosen to adjust how deep your shaft is in the water (don't know what it is called) broke. when i tighten it, it doesn't get tight, so my trolling motor is free to move up or down on its own, and it is definitely a problem when i'm driving the boat or even trying to use the trolling motor, because it doesn't stay put in the direction i want to go if i take my hand off the tiller, because that one thing doesn't tighten up. does anybody know how to fix this? what is the part called that i need? where can i get this part? thank you very much for your time and help
Valv
Did you check if the nut or screw has damaged threads ? Or is it the complete clamp that is broken off.If it's just the thread you can try another screw/nut of same size, or use a new set.If in real need you can contact Minnkota or take it in Mankato at Johnson Outdoors (near the mall) they will take care of it quickly. Northlander
If your in Duluth Miller Dee's should have the part. If not they can have it usually in 3 working days.
jasper60103
Yea, I know how you feel. I have a vector 55 and I broke the tilt lever. It was only $1-2, so I bought two. Anyway, I found a parts drawing for the vector 55. I think that part is the same on both motors. [Note from admin. Please read forum policy before posting again, thank you]There's a minnkota service center (Motor Clinic) in Bloomington, but I think you should have one closer to you. Hope this helps. -jasper
