Vikings lease ?

Now the Metropolitan Sports Facility Commission may start charging rent at $4,000,000 a year if the Vikings dont accept their new proposal for a new 2 year deal with a year to year after that.

Vikings refused the offer in hopes that a new stadium deal could be worked out. It looks as though The Vikes are digging their heals in and saying the dome is inadequate and forlonging discusion is over.

Now with this new proposal/blackmail by the MSFC going to push the Vikings further down the road to California where

Gov Schwartz just signed a bill king a new sports stadium for a Pro football team to be moved in from another state?

Bad picture! Bad picture! I see rose pedals, I see rose pedals.!

Ziggy was so mad he cut off all negotiations today with the MSFC and said there is no interest in being in the dome after next season. Went on to say the organisation is moving forward to allocate a new venue that is not the dome stopping short of threatening to move the team.

I just look at it like a game of poker. Each party thinks the other is bluffing. One of them will give. The dome needs the Vikes, otherwise it's the ugliest vacant building in Minneapolis. The Vikes need the Dome if they want to play in Minnesota.

In the Star Trib's article two days ago about the dome offering a lease extension, someone (can't remember who) was quoted as saying something along the lines that, "you'd have to be a complete political moron to believe that in the economic status of the state that it would fork over money for a new Vikes stadium" That's not exactly what was said I don't want to look it up but that was the jist of it.

The Minnesota Momentum HSOforum has some good information on how to raise money for a new stadium. I think the quoted person was right on the political sense of it, in the current economic situation it could be career suicide for a politician that votes to increase taxes to give the Vikes money. La, la, la. I'm on the side that says our state should do everything it can to keep the Vikes right here where they belong. Besides, Jacksonville should be the first team the NFL wants to move.

I have seen the same reports. What it comes down to who will fold first. The first that folds may just think the cost of business in this state is not worth being put on hold for 2 more years or more. After all the Dome is ranked one of the least revenue generated in the NFL. 3rd I believe.

As political suicide it seems they always find a way to circumvent consequences of votes. Look at Pawlenty and his votes against light rail. Thank god for Jessi grin

Good. It's way past the time to tighten the purse strings in this state. If anybody thought the state budget deficit was bad last biennium you haven't seen anything yet, and the idea of the state paying for a private organization's sports complex is ludicrous. Not many good things have ever come out of California, but they have a law that the State will not pay for such things and Minnesota should follow suit.

For those who believe the State should pay for it, well, I'm betting that Zigy will glady take a personal check from you if you wish to contribute so badly. The rest of us don't.

The bottom line is that Zigy wants the state and the people that live here to pay for it and he knows it's full of suckers willing to do so.

Anyway...anyhow...by any means...let's get the stadium deal done.

I would expect those type of comments from LMITOUT...he's a troll without an outward team of allegiance...a coward, so to speak. I wonder how much public financing the team you really root for received in their last stadium deal.

Much more on the line than paying for some super rich guys stadium here folks. There's thousands of people who rely on the Vikings as a means of employment and wages. It's an industry in itself and it's uniquely Minnesota!! Go Vikes!!

Well said Zepman... MN has contributed to other companies besides sports teams to stay here or to improve their companies. I can think of Northwest Airlines, Target Corporation (helped pay for their building downtown), Ford in St. Paul, etc. etc. We also funded the dome, Excel, Target Field, Target Center so why dig our heals in now with the Vikes... Get it done - we can't have a better owner than Ziggi to work with on getting a stadium.

    • Your kid needs to stay with him!👍
    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
