Brake Alarm

Recommended Posts

Here's the situation:

2001 Toyota Sequoia. Recently, the brake indicator light on the dash comes on during moderate to hard braking. It never comes on during light braking, and it goes out when the truck comes to a stop. The brakes appear to be operating normally.

I'm going to top off the fluid. According to the level indicator on the reservoir, the level is OK, but it's just barely above the minimum level line.

Anything else easy I can check?

that might just be it as remember if you are just above the min level, the fluid is going to move as you stop. One thing, you need to check the brakes, the level being low unless it is leaking is a tool to tell you the condition of the pads on the brakes. so as the pads wear, more fluid is pulled out of the master cyl to fill the void behind the caliper. when you put new pads on, you will squeeze that fluid back into the master cylinder. so if you fill it now, and have to put brakes on, you will squeeze all of that fluid back out and onto the floor. good luck
