DREZLER
FOR MY DAD'S SAKE, WE HAVE DECIDED TO PUT THE FULL HYDRAULIC STEERING ON THE 90HP YAMAHA 4-STROKE, WHICH IS ON AN 1825 PRO-GUIDE. A CERTAIN CHISAGO AREA DEALER HAS QUOTED ME A GREAT PRICE, BUT IS TRYING TO GET ME TO TAKE PICTURES OF MY BOAT AND MOTOR AND SUCH TO "SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE" AND TO "SEE IF IT WILL WORK ON THERE". AND THIS IS STRAIT FROM THE FOLKS AT MERTENS. HOW DO THEY NOT KNOW IF THEIR SYSTEM WILL WORK ON A 2 YEAR OLD BOAT AND MOTOR? HAVE THEY NEVER SOLD THEIR SYSTEM TO A GUY WITH A PRO-GUIDE AND A YAMAHA BEFORE? IT'S NOT THAT UNCOMMON OF A SET-UP.HAS ANYONE ELSE BEEN ABLE TO RUN THE MERTENS FULL HYDRALIC SYSTEM ON A SET-UP LIKE I HAVE?
marine_man
First off, could you drop the caps lock please?Second, I'm not certain why Mertens is requesting the info; but, that said, perhaps they want to be certain it'll work prior to you bringing the boat in, drilling a bunch of holes in it and then finding out it doesn't work. If I were them, and for some reason didn't know how it would fit, I would much rather ask for some pics to temper your expectations a bit than tell you that they can do it and then not be able to deliver.Just my .02 cents.marine_man

Drezler, I'd bet they only have a very limited stock of parts AND that those remaining units were initially intended to be rigged up with Etecs.. Sounds like sending pictures is the best way to get the ball rolling if this is what you truly want. The Titan system should work very well for your boat also.
