Chase *spinner* Jacobsen

Driftless

Recommended Posts

My Nephew is a chip off the old Harris block. The first 2 times I took him fishing he caught bigger trout than his dad has in his entire life. His mom was reluctant to let him go fishing with me because the 2 trout mounts now in his bedroom costed over 500 bucks total with driftwood.

Chase at age 5. His first trout ever. Caught on a panther martin.

Chase at age 6. The second trout he ever caught. Caught on a panther martin spinner.

If you show them a good time when they are little they will love trout fishing. Chase is 13 now and has fished about 60 times a season since then. He keeps his family in trout and ALL neighbors too. Chase *spinner* Jacobsen hooked on trout fishing for life!

Man, if I had a uncle like you when I was little I probably would not have exclusively fly fished for 14 years. When I first got into the sport I though trout only ate flies. My biggest on a fly rod was a football shaped 15" brown on a Hex on the Bois Brule. Now I don't even take a photo of a trout unless it is 15" (brookies being the exception). It was you Len, on WISFLY that always made me so jealous with all those big trout that I just had to try spinners.

Don't get me wong, I loved every minute of fly fishing too.
