SlabSlayKid
Hey guys, wanted to see if anyone could lend a hand. For a school project in an enviromental science class im in we are doing a fish taxidermy project, and being one of the few in the class that fish my teacher volunteered me to catch fish for the class. Unfortunately i have already put the boat into storage for the fall and am spending most of my free time bow hunting. I have 3 fish in the freezer through meager efforts of shore fishing but the class is going to need closer to a dozen. If anyone is going fishing n cares to help another FM member out i am asking that someone keep some fishing for mounting. They don't have to be big by any standards, just large enough to work with. Bass and northern, even walleye are great. Hard to part with, but bigger panfish work also. Small panfish are difficult to work with though. But if anyone is going out fishing and cares to help a guy out it would be greatly appreciated. I live in carver county and would be willing to drive to pick them up afternoons next week if you live anywhere in the near area. If you feel you could lend a hand in anyway please give me a call. my cell phone number is (952).836.4705. I may not answer if im in class but otherwise leave a message and i will get back to you. Thank you to anyone who would be able to help.
jwmiller33
i'd love to help you out. the problem is i fish pool 2 which is catch and release everything but crappies. i am planning on going out on pool 2 tomorrow, so if i catch a crappie, i will definitely keep it for you. i have caught quite a few really nice slab crappies out there, so hopefully i can get one tomorrow.. i will probably be out fishing this weekend also, so if i catch some, i will definitely keep them for you. any chance i could get one of the mounts back after your done? mainbutter
I just want to remind everyone that it's C&R season for [edit: SMALLMOUTH] bass!Good luck with the project, it sounds fun. I wish I could help out but I think I'm done fishing for the year.Just a quick Q though, how about the many rough fish species in MN? You'd be hard pressed to find ones too small to work with, they're plentiful if harder to find this time of year, but I don't know much about carp taxidermy. I could see them being pretty different simply because of anatomical reasons. And beyond that, the obvious "who'd want to mount a CARP?" you're going to get from most minnesotants.. lol.. waterbound
Correction, it's C&R for smallmouth bass, largemouth can still be kept through the season's end. Also, I'd offer to help you with the fish, but it seems like I never catch any...

SlabSlayKid
jwmiller, thanks any help would be appreciated. and i'd venture to say that since many of the kids in the class r taking it for an easy credit (not myself, i love the class) they would be happy to give it away afterwards. cant make any promises about the quality tho
