If its a high pitched moan its the pump making noise. If its a high pitched squeal its the belt making noise.

If you think its the pump you can do a couple of things. Add about an once to 1 1/2 once of seafoam motor tune to the P/S fluid and drive it. If the noise goes away than have the P/S fluid flushed. You can do it yourself (we can give you some direction if needed) or you can expect to pay $80 - $90 dollars for the service.

If the noise doesn't go away with the seafoam I would still give a flush a chance. If the noise is still present than I would say the pump is still the culprit, BUT beware that an aftermarket pump will probably be as loud or louder than the noise you currently have!!!!!!!

1+ the noisy aftermarket pump.

I replaced the pump on my dad's durango a year ago with a aftermarket pump and it was even worse. Two weeks ago I got a pump from the yard because the rebuilt I put on started leaking, and bingo. Quiet as the day dodge made it. And about 1/4 the price.

If flushing the fluid works, you may be able to get a little more life out of it with some lubegard P.S. additive. I usually am not a fan of additives but that stuff works. The pump on my blazer was getting whiny and with a flush it really quieted down a lot (but not completly). When I put that lubegard stuff in it completely went away.
