heater help

Boar

Question

I have a three panel glo warm propane heater for ice house. Just tried to fier it up, piolet light ignights fine an stays on but when I turn it to a setting which is low first then med. then high. When I turn the knob to low the piolet light deminishes, almost turns off, just a nub of blue flame which dosent heat the thermocupler to release gas to the panel. Any one know whats up? Any help would be great thanks bboar

Sounds like you may have been invaded by bugs and their nests in your line. Was the system all hooked up through the summer or was the tank disconnected? If it was disconnected, the bugs may have climbed into the line and built the nest from he@@, just to irritate the helpless owner.

Boar, I had the same problem with a direct vent furnace at the cabin this fall, nothing disconected all summer. Something crawled in and restricted the orifice for the pilot just enough to cause a small flame and not enough heat to make the thermocouple work. I used a small torch cleaner to open the orifice and it took right off. Hope this helps.

Ha zent, go figure, thats what happend to my unit last year, had to take apart the piolet an air clean that orifice an it work fine, I guesee thats what led me to think it was the heater this time an not the line. Boar
