LG Dishwasher - Error Code "LE"

Fishinguy40

Question

Dishwasher is an LG model LDS 5811. No matter what cycle you choose, the dishwasher empties and then fills as it should but the main motor never starts. After a couple minutes the error LE is displayed. Of course this particular error is not listed in the owners manual. Any help is appreciated.

From time to time I get into a dishwasher. No LG's but none the less most of the time I find glass from a cup or something simular that has the pump locked up. I start from the inside of the washer.

I did do a search on this after posting here and found that it seems to be a common problem with LG. It is a motor error code. But after reading posts on an appliance forum a lot of these LE codes seemed to be caused by damaged wires inside the door panel. Sure enough, I took the door panel apart and found two wires had been cut through and two others that had insulation damage. The two wires that were cut are for the Hall Effect sensor on the motor. Soldered and taped them up. Then I wrapped the entire wire harness in electrical tape to prevent further chaffing.

Dishwasher is working again. Thanks for the help!
