Anyone still buy junk automotive batteries?

Recommended Posts

Their is a hazardous waste collection happening locally, so I offered to help out a friend and clean-up his junk batteries lying around. Ended up with 9 batteries. I can bring them to the haz-mat collection and they will take them for free, but it seems I recall somewhere paying a few bucks per old battery.

Anyone know where to sell old automobile batteries?

Thanks.

There are places that will give something like $4-$5 each. I did it a year or so ago. I just saw an ad in my local paper. I had to have a minimum number of batteries, but I made a good little chunk of money!! they didn't pay on the spot, but i did get a check in the mail.

Integrated Recycling Technologies in Monticello takes them. If you have over 10-20 batteries or so, you can get $.15 per pound (plastic and all). Just talk to the a counter sales rep very nice grin Either that or you will be getting $.13 per pound wink

I have close to 30 sitting on pallets waiting to go in. Was seeing if it would go up to $.20 late August, but never did. Has been the same since the beginning of august.

I get them free (people drop them off for me at my work and house/shop and I help replace them if needed) because people think they have to pay to get rid of them. smirk What is nice is when I get a bunch of forklift batteries grin and never bat an eye at deep cycle also.

I figure from taking in junk batteries threw the last winter spring and mainly this summer, with this load i expect around the $225-$250 mark even minus the gas used to haul them over.
