October on Mille Lacs

Recommended Posts

My dad and i are planning on taking a trip up to mille lacs either the first or second weekend in october and was wondering if thats a good time for some muskys?! We are borrowing my grandpas boat and this is going to be our first time fishing for them on that lake, any advice for us things to throw at them or places to start?! any help would be appreciated considering its a big lake!

Was just on Mille Lacs. The pattern this year out there seems to be wood baits. jerk-baits and topwaters are the ticket at the moment. May still be in Oct.

Not sure what Grandpa has for a boat, but if it is a small to medium sized aluminum job, make sure you are always informed of the weather conditions. It can get real nasty real quick. And if you are fishing the shallow rock reefs out there and the wind starts blowing, you don't want to be stuck in a little boat bouncing around. Be prepared!

I really appreciate the info guys! Were hoping to catch a big one! I believe he has a bluefin or something like that. Its an older boat, but in excellent condition and its a pretty good size! Thank you for the warning as well! Any location that may be better to launch at rather than others?
