2springers Posted September 15, 2009 Share Posted September 15, 2009 Maples can be pruned year round. Apples techincally can be pruned year round if perfect cuts are made. An injury beyond the branch collar can lead to a problem called Fireblight which is a bacterium that invades trunk stem tissue. Pruning an Apple during dormancy would eliminate this risk.
