I know the Howell Island gets hit pretty hard....are there any other public hunting areas near St.Louis? Any areas along the muddy Miss?

Mark Twain national forest looks HUGE...I guess that could have potential for bowhunting. I'm guessing it's better to stay in the central to north east part of the state?
