For what region of the country do you want a guide? There are several good general guides that cover the U.S., but regional guides tend to offer more detail and a larger number of species that actually have been recorded in the area in question.

I generally use a one-two punch. A good guide nationwide is the Peterson series guide to wildflowers. Then punch No. 2 is a good regional guide.
