MS Walk - May 3

I will be participating in the MS Walk on Sunday, May 3rd. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the fall of 2004, when she was 13 years old. It has been quite a journey with her. She is now a senior in high school, and will graduate in a few weeks with honors. She will be attending college in the fall, majoring in music education.

She is on a medicine called Tysabri, which she receives via an IV once a month. She tried many other medicines before this one, but either reacted to the med, or had too many relapses. In January of 2006, she could not walk unassisted. Now, she walks with only a slight limp.

My husband was diagnosed with MS last June, just days after his 40th birthday. He has been able to manage on a medicine called Rebif, which he gives to himself three nights a week in an injection.

We have been thankful for the research that has been done, and hope that new research will find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
