Hawg
I have been invaded with wasps on my oriole jelly and hummer feeders. I have a wasp trap and it's getting quite a few but I was told a drop or two of mint by the jelly and juice would deter wasps. Does it deter orioles and hummers too? DonBo
We give up trying to feed the orioles this time of year because of the wasps. If this works, please let us know.
Hawg
So far so good, no wasps or orioles so far . I put mint extract on the wood deck around the jelly bowls and it does look like there are fewer wasps around it. My cheap little Fleet Farm wasp trap has done great too! I do keep going thru jelly though so I'm sure birds are still hitting it. I tried it on the hummer feeder also but haven't had enough time to watch. I have very few HB this year. All my birds counts seem to be getting lower every year.
