rear seal leak

3 posts in this topic

Looking at buying the wife a classic car for her 40th. 79 trans am looks great but has a rear seal leak. A buddy is a mechanic and said it would run about $1,000 cuz we have to pull the engine. It has some hail damage and the battery doesn't stay charged -- alternator?

Any thoughts on this? T-Tops and is in really nice shape.

guy wants $6,000.

sounds like it needs the rear main seal only on that u would have to remove trans to get to. That is a pretty good price. Don't know what else to tell ya.

1000 bucks seems kinda high if he is a friend those engines are not that hard to pull (if thats what you have to do to replace) have to see myself.
