metro fisherman
Im in the process of buying a 74 Johnson 10hp for 50 bucks. Obviously theres something wrong with it so here it is. The guy says "it is probably the cable that is linked to the bottom of the shaft that puts it in to gear or something". So my question to you is 1. Is this an easy fix and does anyone know the cost of the part or 2. Rough estimate at getting it fixed. Sorry for the little info, the guy isnt too knowledgeable in motors. boatfixer
If its a 74, then its a 9.9 and there is no cable. There is however a shift shaft. Do you have any other info? Is it not going into gear?
metro fisherman
He said it would run but wouldn't shift into gear. He called it a cable but doesn't know much. Do you know if its easy to fix?
boatfixer
Still a little too wide open to give an estimate. It could be anything like a broken shift cradle or wore out clutch dog or as simple as adjustment or the shift rod is disconnected.
