jegerjack
Well, I am getting my 2nd lab later this week. My 1st one is pretty good at pheasant hunting but he still has a hell of a time getting the duck hunting down.... Any one know a good school in the metro, I can go to, to help out the process. My 1st dog, I tried on my own and it has been a real pain keeping up on the training schedule I set for my self...JegerJack------------------"What did the old man trade for these guys, a used puck bag?" Long Gray Line
Four Winds up 94 just past St. Michael (about 1/2 hr from Maple Grove)has 2 of my pups right now and I'm pleased. They've been up there 3 months now. I took them up when they were about 5 1/2 mo. old. and they cast, retrieve to hand, are steady at heal (mostly steady, they still get REAL excited when they hear the gun or see the bird). Tim and Craig would ideally like to get the dogs right after they drop their baby teeth and they WANT you to come up and work with your dog as often as possible. The pups went to their first field trial a week and a 1/2 ago. We had a blast and I was pretty pleased to see them retrieving marks out past 100 yards. They obviously aren't ready for blinds yet, but they're retrieving machines on land and in the water.
The Bronco Kid
I second that Four Winds Kennels suggestion. Tim and Craig do a great job. They have a lot of good land for training, ponds and a lake to use, and nice kennels for the dogs to stay in.763-682-5860Tell him Jess Kline mentioned his name to you.------------------Here for all you mortgage needs!Jess T. jegerjack
Do you know if they have a HSOforum? I was unable to find one so I am guessing the don't....JegerJack------------------"What the old man trade for these guys... A used puck bag..." Long Gray Line
They don't have a web site. Neither Tim or Craig are real "techies" and although they do have a computer in their office, I've never seen them use it! They are good about returning calls and have no problem with you coming out to see them work with any of the dogs they are training. I pick my 2 up next weekend. Foothill
I would recommend Fischer's Kennels in Avon, MN. You can check them out on the web at [This message has been edited by LABS4ME (edited 10-04-2004).]
MikeYager - Suzuki
I highly recommend buying the books Game Dog and Water Dog by Richard A. Wolters. Those books alone and common sense is all I used and I am happy with the results.
chad520
I would highly recommend Silver Creek Kennels. It is about 6 miles west of Monticello. The nicest and cleanest kennel you will find anywhere in MN. Give Travis a call he will be moer than happy to talk with you and go over what you want out of your dog.
