DUDLEY ?

A Dudley is a yellow Labrador with chocolate pigmentation (eebb). It can also refer to a Lab with absolutely no pigmentation on the nose or eyerims (all pink in color), but in actuality, this is extremely rare, and probably a genetic abnormality. Please be aware that, while this trait is considered undesirable, it does not indicate some sort of genetic abnormality. There is no known correlation between Dudley noses and poor health. However they are excleuded by the AKC as "show" dogs (for no good reason).

The two color determining genes of such a dog will be eebb (two copies of the recessive "yellow" gene and two of the recessive chocolate gene). The parents could have been both yellow with genetic makeup eeBb and eeBb and siblings could be any or all of these genotypes: eeBB, eeBb, or eebb. The parents could have also been both black, possibly high quality dogs, even NFC's (EeBb).
