Holy high water

Recommended Posts

What a difference 1 week makes. I haven't been down to Ft Snelling since last Sunday. I decided to go for a quick paddle this morning, only to find the river up appx. 10 feet, and the road to the landing flooded and closed. Fortunately with the water this high, finding a suitable launch site is relatively easy. People do give you some funny looks, when you're walking down the road with a canoe over your shoulder.

For anyone interested in heading down, the current isn't bad, and there isn't a ton of big stuff coming down the river. I stayed a bit further away from shore than I normally do, due to the chocolate milk water, and not knowing where any pesky deadheads might be hiding.

Only 1 motorboat that I saw, and they were up towards 494. I'll be back down there tomorrow around 11 AM if anyone is interested in a relaxing Sunday paddle. I've got a black Nissan pickup, with the homemade (4x4 blocks with a strap running thru the cab), canoe rack.
