Walleye ?

Recommended Posts

I am currently out of town working in IL. I have been fishing the dam spillway of a 340 acre private lake. My business associate and I fished it the other day and caught a couple decent eyes. The spillway area we fished is a smooth concrete apron with no current breaking structure except for some eddys.I told him we should fish downstream in the creek in some pools that are 4-5 ft deep. He told me "No this is where I catch them. I've tried those spots with no success." The areas are 4-5 ft deep with bends and current flowing into them with eddys, drops and some fallen branches-trees. The bottom is sand with some gravel.

I think these areas would be better as they get less pressure and have better current breaks and structure. What do you think?

You never know unless you try, but it sounds like there were some fish where you were fishing so maybe he knows what he's talking about. The fish are probably in the spillway to feed, so they're active fish, instead of fish resting out of the current??????
