Car through the ice - does insurance cover that?

I can honestly say I have been pulled over 1 time in the last 12 years. I was going 5 mph over the limit (no ticket).

I make a very strong effort to maintain the speed limit. Am I perfect, of course not but I do try very hard.

I read your post word for word, I understand you said, "I don't recommend this to anyone, but..." If you realize its not a good idea to drive without their seatbelt to avoid a ticket then why do you even bring it up?

I guess I just don't understand your logic. If you have a commerical license and are so concerned about a perfect driving record that you are willing to go to the length of driving without a seat belt in hopes of encouraging the officer to ticket you for that offense instead of your moving violation then I don't understand why you don't just make more of an effort to stay at the speed limit to start with.

Go with whatever works for you I guess.

...95% of the 5 million people in the state drive over the speed limit...

I had to LOL as this quote brought back memories. While a minor I was a terror on the roads. Multiple moving violations before I was 18. I remember a local officer telling me that if I would slow down I would see that I was just about the only one speeding. Now years later, I drive the speed limit, with my seatbelt on. LOL at the liiiiiiiinnnnnneeeeeeee of cars that sometimes forms behind me.

I never drive without my seatbelt on and no one should. But if I happen to get pulled over for going a little fast again, it will come off before the officer walks up to my car, just like the last three times. Lol. Drive safe out there everyone....

Nofish is this your way of telling us how you got out of your speeding ticket many years ago?? wink You never did give an explanation. And you gave me a hard time about my seat belt trick...Lol. I will let you go easy this time!! grin

On a more serious note does anyone know if my insurance rate would go up if I used my glass coverage too many times?? Without giving too many details I mistakenly shut the garage door on the back of my wifes van this morning and messed up the back window. I just had two windshields replaced 3 months ago and don't want it to effect my rate though. I have full glass coverage.

Do you have full glass coverage or does a deducitble apply? frequency is always something that is looked at, however glass claims are probably one of the most frequent claims filed. Remember we live in the State of two seasons, winter and construction. You should be ok, but you might want to give your agent a call. I've done it for clients and if there was a question I called our claims office and posed the question directly.

Yep its full glass with no deductable. I will have to check it out, if I have to wait a while thats fine too. I don't think its cracked but its a long deep scratch that doesn't look too good because of the almost black tint. I just moved in the house not long ago and never thought about checking the sensitivity of the garage door sensor. At least it was the van and not one of my kids. Completely destroyed the garage door. blush

I didn't have to flirt on that one.

I was pulled over for going at most 5 over the limit. It was near bar close and I was in my early 20's. As soon as the cop walked up to my door he said right away I wasn't getting a ticket and that he just wanted to make sure I hadn't been drinking. I hadn't had anything to drink so we just chatted for a minute and both went on our way.

Its a pretty common practice in St. Paul to get pulled over for minor things like that on Friday or Saturday nights. I've been with friends when they got pulled over for minor infractions like going through a yellow light. So far all the cops have been very friendly and very upfront with why they stopped us.

I'll save the flirting for when its really needed.

As mentioned in one of my prior posts each State governs the insurance companies within that State. Therefore each State will vary in price and mandated coverages. Thats one reason we had all better hope the Federal Govt does not take over regulation of the auto and home insurance companies. Can you imagine what your rates would potentially go to if that happens sleep They'll use those premiums to help pay off the bail out debt as well. There is definitely talk regarding that subject. Have a good day in Maine smirk

    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
    • I’ve only seen that from the air.
    • A quick pass through the Black Hills on the way home…
