Getting shot while ice fishing........

Did anybody hear about the shooting of an ice fisherman last Thursday out by the Klondike bridge in Lyon County... Two fishermen were in their shack when somebody started shooting. One got hit and the other was okay...

What in the world is our society becoming... You would not even think about being shot while fishing....

I hope that they catch the guy or guys that did that...

I heard about it. Sounds like the one got shot in the hip and the other one wasnt hit.

The Lyon County, Iowa, Sheriff's Department seeks the public's help in locating suspects who shot a Canton man who was ice fishing Wednesday night on the Big Sioux River.

Rob Johnson and another man heard shots being fired and Johnson was struck in the right hip by one round that came through the shack near the Klondike bridge about 6 p.m. The second man left to call for help and saw two vehicles and four high-school-age white males leaving in a hurry.

The vehicles were a smaller, possibly 2-door green car and a red sport-utility vehicle with South Dakota plates. Anyone who recognizes the vehicles should call the sheriff's department at 712-472-8300.

This is awful. Lets hope it was a mistake and not something intentional. You know one of them is gonna talk. Hopefully the victim is doing Okay relatively speaking.

Sheriff Blythe Bloemendaal had told KSFY that a 15 year old boy has turned himself in for the shooting of a man in an ice shack on Wednesday.

The Lyon County Sheriff says that the boy admitted to firing a shot with the .22 caliber rifle.

Rob Johnson, the victim of the shooting, told us he was shot near the hip and that the bullet will have to remain in his leg as doctors say it is too dangerous to remove.

He and his friend were fishing near the Iowa-South Dakota border when they heard several gunshots, one of which pierced their tent and struck Rob.

Sheriff Bloemendaal has also told KSFY that they know six teenage boys were involved in the incident, and that four of the boys have been questioned. Names and charges will be released after all the interviews have been completed.

The Sheriff said that they are getting a clearer picture of what the boys were doing, and that, "they were in that area shooting .22 rifles at bottles, cans, etc. This particular 15 year old shot into the ice shack."

How brainless are these kids especially the 15 year old. If you see an ice shack why would you even think about shooting into it? Obviously there probably is somebody in it.. I can not beleive the respect that some of these kids have now days for authority and just generally everything...

My mom called today and mentioned this. It has never crossed my mind that something like this could happen. I have heard people pheasant and deer hunting around some of the places I go, but to have someone intentionally do it?
