Cat Tip of the Day: Water Level Prediction Service

The weekend is coming up and you are trying to decide if you should fish the Minnesota River, the St Croix River, or Pool 2 in St Paul. Would you like to have a way to see what the water levels are going to do in the next 4 to 7 days so you can find a place to fish with good water conditions for catching some fish? Well thanks to the National Weather Service that information is just a click away. Here are some links that you may find handy:

St Croix River at Stillwater: St Croix River

Mississippi River at St Paul: Mississippi River

Minnesota River at Shakopee: Minnesota River

If you have a specific stretch of river that you would like to see predictive water levels on you can do a search from any of these websites. Just pull up one of these sites and then go to the HOME page bar. You will see a “Search for” feature on the right side of the bar. Just type in the river you are interested in and then look for the nearest location on the river to where you want to fish. I have had good experience with the data provided by this service.

I use the usgs site a lot. They have gauges in jordan and mankato, and a lot of the creeks running into the river. The creek gauges can help a lot in the spring.
