walleye-
The bitter cold got the best of the power window over the weekend. Something inside broke and now it wont go up or down. I can hear the motor when I hit the button but nothign happens not sure if it is a gear or what. ? is how hard is it to get the panel off and do you think the clips will break off when trying to get it off to take a look. Or should I let someone else tackle it? Trying to save some cash.
Macgyver55
Sounds like it probably broke the regulator assembly. Its not the most difficult job, but yes there is a good possibility that clips/retainers will break if you do it in the cold. If you can get it inside where it is warm it will help alot. I've done many of these and I don't think I'd want to tackle it in the cold. You may want to manually get the glass pushed up and closed then tape it on the inside to keep it shut until the weather is better or just bite the bullet and head to a local shop. walleye-
thanks for the response mangyver I have a heated shop so that isn't a problem and yeah we had to push it up and tape it before we went home from mille lacs. Would have been a cold ride!
Jeremy airjer W
I sense a new window regulator in your future. The door panels are not that hard to get off. If it feels like your pulling to hard than there is probably another screw hidden somewhere. The clips that hold the door panel on usually survive the cold temp removal but letting it sit in the shop for a couple our will make them "release" a lot easier. walleye-
ok thanks for getting me in the right direction guys. I looked around on the net and yes I agree on the regulator. Looks like you have to buy it with the motor huh. And isn't all that cheap 70 bucks or so. Those walleyes that we caught are getting spendy!! I might try to tackle it in the next few days I will let you know how it went.
